Jim Bennett Bio

Jim Bennett grew up with a love for music in a town known as Pomfret, MD. He started playing music at the age of 10, and has continued entertaining for the last 45 years. During his youth he played various wind instruments such as the trumpet, trombone and tuba. As time progressed, he picked up an interest in the guitar. He later formed and managed a group called the Family Reunion Band, which consisted solely of family members. The Family Reunion band later branched out into two other groups, which left time for him to nurture his talent with more seasoned performers. During that time, he had the opportunity to back up groups and artists such as, Sonny Till and the Orioles, The Manhattans, Roy C, Millie Jackson, Lee Fields, Clarence Carter and others.

Around the age of 35, his desires turned to becoming a star vocalist as well as a guitarist. Never really liking his voice, he still ventured into recording studios. He emulated the singing styles of artists such as Barry White, Clarence Carter, and others. He greatly admired the voice and talent of artists, Teddy Pendergrass, Otis Redding, Tyrone Davis, Clarence Carter and Roy C.

As time passed, people began to gravitate towards his rough but sensuous vocal tones. He began to write and a few artists have covered his songs. His musical talents continue to improve and he performs publicly on a regular basis. He prides himself for his strong business sense and his determination. He has written and produced about 60 songs. His wish is to attain a recording deal and become a success in the entertainment field.

He has a strong foundation in gospel music and recognizes that God is deserving of all the thanks and praise. He admits that his hands are not clean from sin, but he is walking and striving in faith. His favorite gospel groups are the Williams Brothers and Jackson Southernaires. His favorite gospel songs are “He Without Sin Cast The First Stone” and “Coolin Waters”.

His motto in the business has always been to put the spotlight on other’s first. He makes everyone a star. He says he is required to treat people right and that determines his allowances from God.
